Using My Art

If you want to use my art, I don't completely prohibit it, but it's not really up for grabs either. There are certain requirements to be followed.

1. First of all, if you're going to use my art, please CREDIT ME. Do not use any of my artwork for profit gain.

2.FanArt of movies, games, etc. It's okay to use, as long as I don't prohibit it in the description. Note me before you use.

3.Character drawings, of my characters or others. DO NOT use these pictures without my permission first. Certain characters I will not allow to be used. If you're curious about a particular character, go ahead and note me.

4.Personal art which isn't fanart or character art. These drawings are off-limits, for the obvious reason that these pieces are personal. However, there are exceptions depending on your reasons and the drawing. Note me if you're curious and a particular piece.

5.Comic Pages. These pieces are off-limits as well, please don't use them.

If there's a piece of art you'd like to use and aren't sure about it, note me with a link to the picture. I will now ask people to specify which piece of art they would like to use before I allow them permission to use it.

Please respect these guidelines, my art holds a personal connection is all. I'd rather it not used for the wrong purposes.

There's a ton of this going around- no one understands the word "copyright" anymore :no:
Also, if an artist says no, it means no- sadly that still does not stop them.

I've had this discussion with people before and my basic opinion on this is "at least they're asking."

True, and it's nice to know tht someone somewhere enjoys my art that much.

The exception is that I'm afraid of seeing my art used for the wrong reasons, especially those that hold a deep connection to an experience or thought. Or to a character I'm fond of(Lucky and UnLucky).

I just needed to make an announcement and set a journal I could link to in case anyone asks in the future. ^^;

That's about all you can do, unfortunately..

When you have your work set to not downloadable, I think DeviantArt should also prevent people from right clicking it to save or copy the url of the file.

I guess the only consoling thing about this is that your artwork is so good people want to use it. I wish browsers would ask me for permission to use my compositions/characters. =P

Nevertheless, it is a bit vexing when others ignore copyright laws. *shakes head*

Those right-click blockers are the easiest things ever to get around. Also, when all else fails --> view source will get you the URL.

I think it's pretty easy to have a copypasta response that says "Please let me know which piece you would like to use and what for, and then I'll let you know, :) Until I respond and say it's okay, please do not use my art."

I don't know, to me it seems like it is worth zero angst, but I've seen a lot of people get worked up over this.

Yeah sorry to hear that. I've seen my art used onetime on a site didn't do anything about it cause I can't the languge the site had was foriegn to me.
