Juggling Time

I'm managing to juggle time between high school, CART projects, and the CalArts portfolio. It's an unfortunate schedule, with so many pages of life drawing every day in order to fill the sketchbook. It's almost a feeling of getting burnt out.

Still, I've been telling myself to hold it out for just this fall. A couple months of stress is worth a completed portfolio.

Of course, these aren't the only worries. Scholarship opportunities have been searched out, but I'm surprised at the lack of. I guess the economy is really hitting us hard, talk about bad timing with my generation for college funds.

Still, I'm hoping for the best and praying to God. My mind's been full on many things, but I have found time to wind down a bit. For the time being however, internet is being kept to a minimum.

Right now, I'm feeling every bit of pain in this as you. =\ I've done about 30 life drawings that I would consider putting in my portfolio, but I still need landscapes/backgrounds, at least one nice animation, a filled sketchbook, and some worthy cartoons/charicatures.

As for funds, I've checked this one website that updates scholarship oppertunities pretty frequently, but there really are not many in the art department. This economic crisis sucks. :(

Anyway, good luck, I know you're doing brilliant work and I'm sure things will work out in the end.

I'm really scared about aving a good supply of figure drawings. Since there aren't any sessions around here I'll be needing my parents to drive me a few hours in order to reach one. I haven't figure drawn since CSSSA 2008, and it's really sressing me out. :/ But at the same time, I haven't gone through my fiure dawings either, so there's probably some that are portfolio worthy in there. :)

Otherwise, just filling up this sketchbook is tough. Five pages a day. Not fun forcing yourself to draw. :/

Oh, do you have the link to the site? Even if there aren't many art scholarships, I suppose I could try others such as essay-based ones. :)

Best of luck on getting everything accomplished! Not to worry- I felt the same way about scholarships, but then, literally at the last minute, I found out about a half tuition scholarship for my school. I had to turn in a bunch of sketches and figure drawings and the like, and I actually wound up winning it. So I'm paying only about 40K rather than 80K in total.

Is that sad, I'm relieved at paying $40,000? LOL. But yea. Don't give up. There's bound to be an opportunity that arises. :]

Ugh, I know what you mean about the economy . . . what a time to get into college, huh? :XD: But I'm sure you can get grants, check in the counseling center and ask about a Cal Grant. I got about 3 thousand for mine. :)

I'm sure you'll do fine, and I know you'll blow Cal Arts away with your amazing portfolio!

Well, they said on the website that it's a 20 life drawing limit, and that it should be 80% of your portfolio. I've exceeded that, but I'm sure I'll be adding much more than 20 as time goes on.

And I totally agree, forcing yourself to draw is NOT fun. :(

There's the sight. :) I'm trying a few writing ones too, since it's another strongsuit. You're good at math, aren't you? I think they have some offered regarding mathematics.
